Creating a distinctive name and identity for a new gateway to Pune’s next generation of work.
PORT 133 is a landmark IT development at Magarpatta, located in the heart of Pune’s Eastern IT corridor. With a total project area of 6.2 million sq. ft., the development comprises 2 distinctive office towers and a Marriott Hotel, bringing together businesses, talent, technology and opportunities within one connected destination.
The Name
The name PORT 133 was conceived around the idea of a gateway, a point of arrival and a place of connection.
The word Port, derived from the Latin Portus, has historically referred to a place of refuge and a gateway through which ships access new territories and exchange goods. This idea of arrival and exchange translates naturally to an IT destination where businesses from across the world come to establish, connect and grow.
The idea takes on an equally relevant meaning in technology. A port is a point of connection through which devices communicate and data is exchanged. In the same way, PORT 133 is envisioned as a connecting point between companies and talent, talent and opportunities, and ideas and possibilities.
The 133 pays homage to the survey number of the project land, while also naturally echoing the numbering convention associated with technology ports. Together, the two elements create a name that is simple, distinctive, relevant to its context and easy to remember.
The Identity
StudioD translated this idea of connection and convergence into the PORT 133 visual identity. At the heart of the logo is the ‘O’ in PORT, transformed into a series of concentric circles. The circles represent multiple layers coming together - the built environment, technology, sustainability, people and ideas - converging at a central point of innovation.
The green ring introduces a subtle expression of sustainability, while the strong typography gives the identity a contemporary, confident and distinctive character.
StudioD extended the identity across the project's communication ecosystem, creating corporate presentations, corporate brochure, website, site hoardings, signage and wayfinding systems, and other brand and on-ground communication collaterals.
The resulting identity positions PORT 133 as more than an IT park - a gateway where businesses, talent and ideas connect, and where new possibilities take shape.
